About this time of year most people are willing—nay, eager—to set aside all the holiday joyfulness and release that mean-spirited cynicism that’s been bubbling just under the surface. So if one last…tiny…thin…wafer of good cheer is too much, please forgive us. But didn’t want to close out the season without a nod to the folks who participate in the Birds Nest Project at Arc’teryx.
For the third year, employees at the high-end outdoor apparel and gear maker have donated their time to the project, transforming leftover and discontinued materials into warm, rain resistant capes for the homeless and disadvantaged. As many as 75 employees participated this year, making more than 700 of the ponchos—up from 300 in 2009 and 560 last year.
So kudos on keeping the materials out of a landfill and double kudos on finding such a worthwhile use for them. For more info, check out the fine report on Trailspace.com.
